When Thomas Olofsson first presented his film on the life of composer Edvard Grieg entitled “What price immortality?” to the public in 1999, it immediately stirred up considerable international interest. This music film by Thomas Olofsson, Ture Rangström and Johanna Olofsson attempts to throw some light on the restless life and complex character of a composer about whom little is known outside Scandinavia, even more than 100 years after his death.

The film consists of a series of flashbacks in which the elderly Grieg - and the audience - tries to find out the truth about his life. A wide range of excerpts from his music provide fitting illustrations of the various episodes in his career.
