Since winning first prize at both the International Tchaikovsky Competition and Rubenstein Competition in 2011 aged just 20, Daniil Trifonov has established himself as the world’s most exciting young pianist. In 2016, he was awarded Gramophone’s Artist of the Year and his career continues to go from strength to strength.
For his debut Mariinsky recording he presented a thrilling account of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1, along with a unique selection of recital repertoire, which received rapturous praise across the classical music press. In October, this celebrated album will be released on vinyl for the first time, ahead of major recital tours of the United States, Germany and the UK and Ireland. During these tours, Trifonov will also be joined by various orchestras, including Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky, to perform his own Piano Concerto.
The vinyl version of the album will also include Trifonov’s performance of Mussorgsky’s "Gopak" from 'The Fair at Sorochyntsi', recorded at the original sessions and available physically for the first time.
