About

The press has decreed this unique series on cpo a “stylistically flawless and tonally beautiful interpretation” of Telemann’s mixed concertos. The wealth of thematic invention and the subtle connections developed in the movements can hardly be described exhaustively. Telemann’s creed was: when melodic invention is exhausted, then one must pursue new harmonic paths. And he was true to his word: unusual harmonic courses of events in which the compositional-technical limits are tested or even transgressed are characteristic of Telemann’s compositional style in all the genres, straight through to his late oeuvre.

Awards and reviews

Diapason June 2017

With Schneider himself on recorder or on flute with the splendid Karl Kaiser, with Ingeborg Scheerer on violin and oboists of the calibre of Martin Stadler or Hans-Peter Westermann, we have here a battalion of virtuosos who know how to phrase, whisper, and embroider upon the ornamented music of Telemann

August 2017

The long Concerto in F and the closing Concerto in E minor are definitely the highlights of this disc. The latter shows that Telemann is not only the composer of happy and merry music.

Early Music Today June 2017

Telemann could hardly have wished for more ideal advocates: expert soloists and polished ensembles, all finely tuned to the music’s expansive range of moods and textures, from mellow Adagio to exuberant Vivace, stirring fanfares and elegant counterpoint to zestful, scampering dances that make you glad to be alive.
