About

From the Cathedrals of Salisbury and Durham, Daniel Cook now gives us the fourth volume of this unique series on his home territory in Westminster Abbey. The organ always remained central to Stanford’s career, being educated in the organ lofts of Christ Church and St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s, Dublin. After this much of his time was spent at various posts in Cambridge where he actively promoted church music before moving to London later in life where to boost his meagre income he wrote for the organ which allowed him to pay tribute to his many organ-playing colleagues. Central to this recital, is the fifth sonata, the last in this genre coupled with other rarely heard works.
