This is the second volume of Richard Strauss's complete piano works. The pieces recorded in this volume were written during the composer's childhood and adolescence, and the composer's skill and progressive talent revealed by these works are worthy of admiration. The young Strauss's musical language develops markedly, leading up to the beautiful Stimmungsbilder Op.9, a collection of five short pieces that can be compared to some Romantic masterpieces.

Most of these works are world première recordings, including the Fantasia TrV29, 2 kleine Stücke TrV30, Sonata TrV47 and the Albumblatt TrV111.
