Spotlight on this release

Awards and reviews

July 2010

The most satisfying items on the disc are the eight chorales...which are all affectingly sung by Trinity Baroque under its director Julian Podger...In summary, this is an interesting concept sympathetically realised

June 2010

...this disc provides a pleasant listening experience. We can certainly relish Mayer's exceptional technique, especially his circular breathing, and his musicianship.

26th March 2010

Overall, a well-realised alliance of simpatico voicings.

28th February 2010

Bach has many voices, and this disc is a bold attempt by one of the world's leading oboists to sing many of them himself...He makes a gloriously rich sound, and the alto solo 'Widerstehe doch der Sünde', with its astonishing dissonances, works well.
