The publication Leoš Janáček in Photographs brings together for the first time the complete collection of the composer's photographs that the authors were able to assemble from different sources, mainly from the Janáček Archive of the Moravian Museum (which is part of the UNESCO Memory the World International Register). The division into 13 chapters is made in most cases according to places. It includes both official and private pictures, as well as portraits and photographs of groups, family, etc. Janáček loved having himself photographed: the authors managed to assemble 195 photographs of him from the years 1874 to 1928. Among these, Janáček's portraits can be found from prominent studios such as František Drtikol and J. F. Langhans, as well as photographs showing Janáček with his distinguished figures such as Jan Masaryk, Alfons Mucha, Otto Klemperer and Karel Kovařovic. Apart form these, the selection also includes photograhps and information on photographers where available. It's certainly essential source not only for Janáček enthusiasts and specialists but also for those interested in the photography of this period.
