Essential Masterworks
Essential Masterworks is a recent range of budget-priced albums comprising great recordings from both the Sony and BMG classical catalogues, many of which have been unavailable for some time. The range was launched in June 2009 with an initial 20 titles, with more released periodically over recent months. This range of releases in the series covers a broad range of repertoire, from a recording of Handel’s complete opera Serse to themed albums such as The Wedding Album and Stairway To Heaven. Artists showcased in the first 20 albums include John Williams, The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Eugene Ormandy, The Choir Of Trinity College, Cambridge, Lesley Garrett, Tasmin Little and The Grimethorpe Colliery RJB Band.
